Bhubaneswar: Birth and death certificates at your doorstep

Bhubaneswar municipal corporation (BMC) will shortly start a service to deliver birth and death certificates at your doorstep.

As part of the new plan, BMC will make the entire process, including form submission and fee payment, completely online. After the officials scrutinise the application, the certificate will be generated for home delivery under the civic body’s e-municipality module.

The system is now partially online in which the applicant downloads the form and visits the BMC office to submit the forms and pay the fees. The applicant is then given a date to come and collect the certificate.

In order to execute the plan smoothly, the BMC will take help of the chief registrar of birth and death at the health and family welfare department and also keep a track of registers available with the crematoriums for issuing the death certificates.

“The aim is to make the job easy for citizens and officials. The online mode will bring transparency. Through the home delivery service, we will be able to ensure that the certificates are delivered to right person at right address. We are making efforts to introduce the service shortly,” said mayor Ananta Narayan Jena.
