Night market in Bhubaneswar for residents and tourists soon

After getting Smart City tag, Bhubaneswar is ready to start Odisha’s first Night market or Night bazaar soon.

Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) wants to start it at Ekamra Haat in the city. Currently it is under IDCO and will be brought under BMC to implement this. It will have all kinds of food available for people to enjoy.

A Night Market is a premier destination in a city where both residents and tourists frequent to enjoy boutique style shopping showcasing the best the region has to offer in the arts, crafts, produce, food and artisan products.

The BMC commissioner, Krishan Kumar, said they have five locations on mind for the night market. “We have selected Ekamra Haat, Khandagiri market, Unit-II, periphery of BMC-Bhawani mall and Infocity area. Multiple agencies will be involved to make the concept successful,” Kumar said, adding, “the night bazaars will focus on handicrafts and food. We have thought of organizing music shows and cultural programmes on Fridays and Saturdays,” he added.

Known for its sunny beaches and electrifying nightlife, Goa in India is also home to the Saturday night market at Arpora known as Ingo’s Saturday Night Bazaar. The most famous night market in India, it has the perfect list of things to see and do for curious travellers.
