Papu’s assets worth Rs 95 lakh

Comedian-turned-politician Papu Pam Pam, who is contesting from mineral-rich Champua assembly constituency is the richest among the filmstars (Aparajita Mohanty, Bijay Mohanty and Akash Das Nayak) in the fray for the first time.

The 36-year-old actor is worth Rs 95 lakh. His movable assets include Rs 53,000 in cash, Rs 3,98,641 bank deposits and Rs 30.5 lakh life insurance policies.

The property valuation of Aparajita, Bijay and Akash stand at Rs 78 lakh, Rs 17 lakh and Rs 13 lakh respectively as mentioned in their affidavits.

The BJD may have fielded Papu because of his popularity as a stand-up comedian. But the actor faces an identity crisis as not many are familiar with his real name – Tattwa Prakash Satpathy – which will be displayed on electronic voting machines (EVMs).

Papu too realizes it.

“Both the names would be written prominently on banners. The EVMs will have the symbol beside my name. Voters will not face any problem. I will start my campaign shortly,” he said.

Papu Pam Pam, who completed his graduation from Udala College in 1998, exuded confidence that he would be able to draw maximum crowd during his campaign.
