Odisha’s second planetarium in Sambalpur inaugurated by CM

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday inaugurated Odisha’s second planetarium in Sambalpur (Burla) which is named after former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.

Apart from the planetarium, the CM also inaugurated a Science and Evolution Park there. The planetarium, constructed by the Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO) at a cost of Rs 5.60 crore, has a capacity of 170 to 180 visitors.

The construction of the planetarium had begun in 2014, while work on the science park was started in May this year at Burla. The planetarium has been set up with a purpose to create awareness on solar science and astrology among the students of Western Odisha.

School and Mass Education Minister, Badri Narayan Patra informed that three more planetariums will also be set up in Odisha, one each at Baripada, Gopalpur and Rayagada.

Apart from the planetarium, the Chief Minister laid foundation stones and inaugurated various developmental projects in Sambalpur.
